Plural Forms
Making plurals in Uzbek is simple — just add the suffix -lar or -ler to the noun.
The Rule
After back vowels (a, o, u, o') use -lar. After front vowels (e, i) use -lar as well (in literary Uzbek, -lar is used universally):
kitob → kitoblar
book → books
bola → bolalar
child → children
o'qituvchi → o'qituvchilar
teacher → teachers
shahar → shaharlar
city → cities
When NOT to Use Plural
After numbers, Uzbek nouns stay singular (unlike English):
besh kitob
five books
Literal: five book (not kitoblar)
uch bola
three children
Literal: three child (not bolalar)
ko'p odam
many people
Literal: many person
